Early life
Elliot Daly was a very good cricketer when he was younger. He played for England Under-15s and Surrey at different age groups. He was good at both batting and fast bowling. Many thought he might become a professional cricketer.
However, he chose to play rugby union instead. Daly started playing rugby at Beckenham when he was five. Later, he moved to Dorking in 2006 and played there for three years. He went to Whitgift School, where he became very good at kicking the ball long distances. He was even known for borrowing his teacher's car keys to get more rugby balls for practice!
Club career
Daly joined Wasps' special training group for young players. He then moved up to their main academy team.
He played his first game for Wasps in November 2010. He was a centre against Exeter Chiefs. He was still a student at Whitgift School at the time. This made him the second-youngest player ever to play for Wasps. His first game in the Premiership (England's top rugby league) was later that month. He played against Bath Rugby. In his first season (2010–11), he played six games. He played as a centre, full-back, and on the wing.
Elliot Daly became a key player for Wasps. He played in over 150 Premiership matches for the team. He was known for his speed and strong, long-range kicks. He was also very good at finding open spaces on the field. He was an important player for Wasps, no matter which position he played.
In February 2019, Daly decided to leave Wasps. He joined another top team, Saracens, for the 2019–20 season.
Daly helped Saracens win the Premiership title in 2023. He started the final game on the bench. But he came on early in the first half. He then scored a very important try. This helped Saracens beat Sale Sharks and win the championship.
International career
Playing for England

He made his first game for the senior England team in 2016. After that, he helped England win the Six Nations Championship two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017. Since his first game, he has played over 40 times for the senior England team.
Daly was chosen for England's training squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He then got his first call-up to the main England squad in January 2016. This was from the new coach, Eddie Jones.
He played his first international game against Ireland in February 2016. He came on as a substitute in England's 21–10 win.

He scored his first try for England against Fiji in November 2016. He was playing on the wing in that game. England won 58–15.
In November 2016, something unusual happened. Daly was sent off the field with a red card. This happened during a game against Argentina. He went for a tackle in the air, and the opposing player landed badly. Even though England played with one less player for most of the game, they still won 27–14!
Daly continued to play well for England. In the 2017 Six Nations Championship, he scored a long-range penalty against France. He also scored a winning try against Wales. England was losing with only five minutes left. Daly got the ball, ran 20 metres, and scored in the corner. This won the match for England! He scored another try against Italy in the same tournament. In the 2019 Six Nations Championship, he played as a full-back. He scored a try against Ireland by kicking the ball forward and then picking it up.
In August 2019, Elliot was chosen for England's squad for the Rugby World Cup in Japan. He was picked because of his amazing speed and his ability to kick long-range penalties.
Playing for the British & Irish Lions
Elliot Daly made history during the 2017 tour to New Zealand. He was part of the British & Irish Lions team that tied the series against the All Blacks. This was a big achievement!

In the first Test, he almost scored a try very early in the game. He was also part of one of the Lions' best tries ever. He passed the ball with other players, which led to a great score.
Elliot played the whole game in the Lions' amazing comeback win in the second Test. In the third Test, his penalty kick helped the Lions get closer to the All Blacks' score. The match ended in a 15–15 tie, which meant the series was drawn. This was a historic result for the Lions!
