Elvira Sastre Sanz was born in 1992. She is a Spanish writer, a poet, and a literary translator. This means she writes her own books and poems. She also changes books and songs from one language to another.

About Elvira Sastre

Elvira Sastre was born in Segovia, Spain. Her dad helped her discover a love for books. This led her to become a writer.

Early Life and Writing

Elvira wrote her first poem when she was 12 years old. At 15, she started a blog called "Relocos y recuerdos." This blog was a place for her to share her thoughts and poems. She even won a poetry prize for her poem Saudade around that time.

Later, she studied English in Madrid. While studying, she kept writing. She also started going to poetry events. There, she met other poets and musicians.

Becoming a Published Author

In 2013, Elvira published her first book. It was a collection of poems called Cuarenta y tres maneras de soltarse el pelo. A famous writer named Benjamín Prado wrote the introduction for her book. This helped introduce Elvira to the world of modern Spanish poetry.

In 2014, another publisher asked her to release a second book of poems. Before that, she worked on a special project. It was called "Tú la Acuarela / Yo la lírica." This project combined Elvira's poems with beautiful watercolor paintings. An artist named Adriana Moragues created the paintings. In 2016, Elvira also had some of her poems included in a book called Ya nadie baila.

Elvira as a Translator

Besides writing, Elvira also works as a professional translator. She changes books and song lyrics from English to Spanish. For example, she translated a book called Los hijos de Bob Dylan. It was written by an American author. She also translated the English lyrics for the Spanish music group Vetusta Morla's album La deriva.

Elvira's knowledge of poetry has allowed her to travel. She has taken part in many important festivals and literary events. Most of these events were in Latin America. She has also given talks at some universities in America.

Awards and Recognitions

In 2019, Elvira Sastre won a big award. She received the Premio Biblioteca Breve for her first novel. The novel was titled Días sin ti.
