The Embassy of Mexico in London is like Mexico's main office in the United Kingdom. It's a diplomatic mission, which means it's where people from Mexico work to keep a good relationship with the UK. They help Mexican citizens who are in the UK and also share Mexico's culture and interests.
Mexico also has another important building at 8 Halkin Street in Belgravia. This building is the official home for the Mexican Ambassador.
In 2011, a protest took place at the embassy. People who supported a group called the Zapatistas in Mexico held a demonstration. They even briefly put up the Zapatista flag instead of the Mexican flag. This was to show their support for the Zapatista cause.
The embassy building on St George's Street is very old and important. It is a "Grade II listed" building. This means it's protected because of its special history or architecture.
Who is the Ambassador?
The Ambassador of Mexico to the United Kingdom is Mexico's top representative in the country. They are like the head of the Mexican team working in the UK. Their job is to make sure Mexico and the UK work well together. They also help Mexican citizens living or visiting the UK.
