Emi Suzuki (鈴木 えみ, Suzuki Emi, born September 13, 1985), also known as Emichee, is a famous Japanese model. She started her career in 1999 with Seventeen magazine. Emi Suzuki is still a big name in the fashion and modeling world today. She has also acted in some TV shows.

Early Life and Moving to Japan

Emi Suzuki was born on September 13, 1985, in Shanghai, China. Her birth name was Wu Ziliang. She was an only child.

When she was 12 years old, Emi moved to Kyoto, Japan. She became a Japanese citizen. She changed her name to Emi Suzuki before starting public junior high school in Kyoto.

When she was 13, Emi began fashion modeling. She started working professionally the next year. She went to Kyoto Ryoyo High School but did not finish her studies there.

Emi Suzuki's Modeling Career

Emi Suzuki started modeling after a classmate suggested it. She made her debut with Seventeen magazine in 1999. In the same year, she appeared in her first TV commercial. It was for Dancemania Speed 2. Her popularity quickly grew after this. She also appeared in fashion shows for many clothing brands.

Becoming a Top Model (2002–2007)

By 2002, Emi Suzuki started working with famous designer brands. She had to meet strict fitness standards for these jobs. She also appeared in the music video for Ketsumeishi's popular song Sakura in 2005.

Emi had thought about stopping modeling and moving back to Kyoto. But her agency and the publisher Shueisha started a new magazine called Pinky. So, she ended her contract with Seventeen in 2006. Emi became a regular model for Pinky. She was often on the cover of the magazine by herself. She was even featured on the very first issue of Pinky.

While modeling for Pinky, Emi also worked for many other fashion magazines. She appeared in ads for big companies like Shiseido, Suntory, Meiji, and OPC (for Calorie Mate).

Acting Roles and Recognition

Besides modeling, Emi Suzuki also acted in several TV series. These include The Long Love Letter, The Queen of the Lunch, Water Boys 2, and Yukan Club. Her role as a girl named "Karen" in Yukan Club became her most famous acting part.

From January to November 2007, Emi Suzuki earned a lot of money. Many media sources said she was one of the top ten highest-paid Japanese models that year.

Later Career (2010–Present)

In January 2010, Emi Suzuki made a surprise appearance on Fuji Mezamashi TV. This was a news program she had appeared on when she was new to modeling (2001–2002). Even with a busy schedule, she called herself a "semi-retired" model. She also suggested she did not want to focus on acting as a main career.

Near the end of 2010, Emi Suzuki appeared on the first issue of Used Mix Special Edition CLOSET. She was one of three featured models, along with Miho Tanaka and Rena Takeshita.
