Emili Rosales i Castellà, born on February 12, 1968, is a talented writer and editor from Catalonia, Spain. He started his writing journey with poetry but soon became well-known for his novels.

About Emili Rosales

Emili Rosales began writing poetry when he was younger. He published two poetry books, Ciutats i mar in 1989 and Els dies i tu in 1991. However, he quickly found his passion in writing novels.

His first novels were published quite quickly. He wrote La casa de la platja in 1995, followed by Els amos del món in 1997, and Mentre Barcelona dorm in 1999. After these three books, he took more time to write his next big novel.

The Invisible City

Emili Rosales spent five years working on his fifth novel, which was called La ciutat invisible. This book tells a story that jumps between the present day and the time of King Charles III of Spain. The hard work paid off! La ciutat invisible won the Sant Jordi award in 2005 and received many great reviews. This popular novel has been translated into Spanish and English, where it is known as The Invisible City.

Other Work

Besides writing, Emili Rosales has also worked as a translator, helping to bring books from one language to another. He has also been a literature professor, teaching others about books and writing. Sometimes, he writes reviews of new books for newspapers. Today, he is an important editorial director for two publishing houses, Grup 62 and Destino. This means he helps decide which books get published.
