Emilio Rosenblueth Deutsch (1926–1994) was a brilliant Mexican engineer. He spent his life studying earthquakes and how buildings react to them. His work helped make buildings safer in earthquake-prone areas.
Emilio was born in Mexico City. He was the only child of Emilio Rosenblueth Stearns and Charlotte Deutsch Kleinman. His parents came to Mexico from Hungary as refugees before he was born.
Early Life and University Studies
Emilio Rosenblueth grew up in a family of important researchers. This made him interested in science from a young age. He became very curious about earthquakes because his hometown, Mexico City, often experienced them.
He started his university studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He earned his bachelor's degree there in 1948. Later, he went to the University of Illinois in the United States. He received his master's degree in 1949 and his PhD in 1951.
