Emily Orwaru (born 1988) is a talented Kenyan engineer. She works as an aeronautical planning engineer at Kenya Airways. This is Kenya's main airline.

Emily's Early Life and School
Emily Orwaru was born in Nyamira, Kenya. This town is about 305 kilometers west of Nairobi. Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya.
When Emily was nine, she got very sick with tonsillitis. This made her deaf in her right ear. Later, doctors found she had keratoconus. This is an eye condition where the front part of the eye, called the cornea, gets thin. She wears special contact lenses to help her see clearly.
After finishing elementary and high school in Kenya, Emily got a special scholarship. The government of Russia helped her. She went to Samara State Aerospace University in Russia. There, she studied Aerospace engineering. She earned her Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2009.
Emily's Engineering Career
In 2014, Emily faced a serious health challenge. She bravely underwent treatment and continued her amazing work. In June 2014, she started working at Kenya Airways. She was an aircraft maintenance technician. She worked in this role for six months.
Later, she was promoted to her current job. She is now an Aeronautical Planning Engineer. In this role, she helps plan how airplanes are maintained.
Other Achievements and Activities
In October 2017, Emily Orwaru received a special honor. She was named among the "Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya 2017." This award came from Business Daily Africa, a business newspaper.
Emily also helps her community. She is part of a group that works on economic development in Nyamira. This is her home village. She is also a member of "Faraja Cancer Care". This group supports people who have faced health challenges.
