Emma is a small, unincorporated community located in LaGrange County, Indiana. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county government.
History of Emma
Emma has an interesting past, especially concerning its post office. A post office is where people send and receive mail. The post office in Emma first opened in 1868.
Back then, it wasn't called Emma; it was known as Eden Mills. This name was used until 1875. Later, in 1880, the post office's name was changed to Emma. It continued to serve the community for many years before finally closing its doors in 1903.
