Emma Dean was born on 16 October 1977 in Australia. She is a talented Australian cook and a friendly television presenter. Emma became very well known after she won the fifth season of MasterChef Australia. This popular TV show is a cooking competition where amateur cooks show off their skills.
Emma Dean's Early Life and Interests
Emma grew up on a small farm in a place called Epsom, Victoria. Her older sister, Rachel Dean, is a clothing designer.
Before she became a famous cook, Emma studied at two universities: Monash University and RMIT University. She earned a special degree in environment and planning. For over eight years, she worked for the government in Victoria, helping to plan towns and cities.
Emma also had another exciting hobby: track cycling. She even trained at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. She was a Metropolitan Champion in a 500-meter race and represented Australia in a big competition in 2004.
Becoming a MasterChef Champion
On 1 September 2013, Emma Dean achieved a huge dream. She was named the winner of MasterChef Australia Season 5!
In the exciting final round, Emma competed against another great cook, Lynton Tapp. They had to recreate a very difficult dessert called Plight of the Bees. This fancy dish was created by a famous chef named Ben Shewry. Emma's amazing cooking skills helped her win the challenge.
As the winner, Emma received some fantastic prizes. She won $100,000, which is a lot of money! She also got to work in some of Australia's best kitchens to learn even more. Plus, she won a cool Alfa Romeo car. Part of her prize was also a book deal with New Holland Publishers. This meant she could write her own cookbook! Her book, called A Homegrown Table, was released on 1 December 2013.
Life After MasterChef
After winning MasterChef, Emma Dean continued her journey in the world of food. She became the host of a national television show called My Market Kitchen. This show was filmed at the famous Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne.
Emma's co-presenter on My Market Kitchen was Lynton Tapp. Yes, the same Lynton Tapp she competed against in the MasterChef final! They became very good friends during their time on the cooking show.
