Emma Portner (born November 26, 1994) is a talented Canadian dancer and choreographer. She creates amazing dance routines and performs them too!

Growing Up and Learning to Dance

Emma Portner was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She started dancing when she was very young, at just three years old.

She first learned to dance at a studio in Ottawa. During her summers, she would train with The National Ballet of Canada. This is a very famous dance company!

While in high school, Emma went to Canterbury High School. This school had a special arts program for dance. When she was 17, Emma moved from Ottawa to New York City. She went to The Ailey School to train even more. However, she left after only five months to start her professional dance career.

Emma Portner's Dance Career

Emma Portner has worked on many exciting projects. She helped create some of the dances for Jim Steinman's musical, Bat Out of Hell: The Musical.

In 2015, she choreographed and danced in Justin Bieber's music video. The song was called "Life is Worth Living." She also created dances for Bieber's big Purpose World Tour.

Awards and Recognition

In 2019, Emma was nominated for "Best Female Dancer" at the Arena Dance Competition. Paper magazine also named her one of "100 people to watch in 2019."

Emma has been featured on the covers of popular magazines. These include Dance Spirit and Dance Magazine.

Where Her Work Has Been Seen

By 2020, Emma's dance work was shown in many different places. This includes projects for big companies like Apple and Netflix. Her choreography has also appeared in Vogue magazine and for Sony Pictures.

She has directed movement for indie music stars. Some of these artists include Blood Orange, Maggie Rogers, and BANKS.

Emma has performed at famous venues around the world. These include the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Oslo Opera House.

Ballet and Film Work

In 2021, Emma created her first ballet called "Islands." This work was for the Norwegian National Ballet. It was chosen to tour with other famous choreographers. At just 26 years old, Emma received great reviews for her ballet. People said she "shines extra bright" and "stood out" among other well-known choreographers.

Emma also appeared in the movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2021. She played the character Gozer the Gozerian.

Music Projects

Besides dancing, Emma is also a singer! She is the lead vocalist for Bunk Buddy. This is an indie music duo she formed with producer Noah Rubin.

Personal Life

In January 2018, Emma Portner married actor Elliot Page. They met after Elliot saw Emma on Instagram. The couple later separated in the summer of 2020. Their divorce was finalized in early 2021.
