Emma Slevin (born 2 May 2003) is an amazing Irish gymnast. She has achieved many firsts for her country. Emma was the first Irish girl to compete in the Youth Olympic Games. She also made history by being the first Irish female gymnast to reach the all-around finals at both the European Championships and the World Championships in 2021. She is currently the 2024 Northern European all-around champion.

Emma's Early Life
Emma Slevin was born on May 2, 2003, in Galway, Ireland. She started her gymnastics journey there.
Emma's Junior Gymnastics Journey
Starting Strong in Gymnastics (2016–2017)
Emma began her competitive career in 2016. At the Irish Championships, she won first place in the Espoir (younger) group. She also earned gold on the balance beam. The next year, she moved up to the junior division. She placed second overall at the Irish Championships.
Emma made her first international appearance in 2017. She competed at the Flanders International Team Challenge in Belgium. She helped the Irish team finish seventh. Later that year, she took part in the European Youth Olympic Festival.
Youth Olympic Games Success (2018)
In 2018, Emma continued to shine. She won first place in the junior division at the Irish Championships. She also competed at the Youth Olympic Qualifier. She finished 16th, earning a spot for Ireland at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. This was a huge achievement!
Emma was chosen to represent Ireland at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. She was the first Irish female gymnast ever to do so. She was also given the honor of carrying the Irish flag at the opening ceremonies.
At the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Emma did incredibly well. She reached the finals for the all-around competition. She also made it to the finals for vault, uneven bars, and balance beam. In the all-around final, she finished in an impressive sixth place. She placed fifth on the balance beam.
Emma's Senior Gymnastics Career
Becoming a Senior Gymnast (2019)
In 2019, Emma became a senior gymnast. This means she started competing against older, more experienced athletes. She competed at both the European Championships and the European Games.
Making History in 2021
The year 2021 was a very important one for Emma. In April, she competed at the European Championships. She qualified for the all-around final. This was a historic moment! Emma became the first Irish female gymnast to reach a senior all-around final at the European Championships. She finished 19th overall.
In October, Emma competed at the World Championships. She again qualified for the all-around final. This made her the first Irish female gymnast to reach a senior all-around final at the World Championships. She continued to make her country proud!
