Emmalyn Estrada (born April 5, 1992), known professionally as Emmalyn, is a singer from Canada. Her first song, "Get Down", was very popular in Canada when it came out in 2009. She is most famous for being a part of the girl group G.R.L., which was created by Robin Antin.
About Emmalyn
Emmalyn is the youngest person in her family. She went to Holy Cross Regional High School in Surrey, British Columbia. Her family comes from the Philippines.
In October 2009, Emmalyn moved to Los Angeles, California. Later, in June 2011, she moved back to her hometown of Surrey, British Columbia. She is the younger sister of another singer, Elise Estrada. Emmalyn became a mother to a baby girl in May 2022.
Emmalyn's Music Journey
Early Career (2009–2010)
In May 2009, Emmalyn took part in a music competition called the Beat Music Awards. This event was held by a radio station in Vancouver, Canada. Emmalyn won the competition.
Her song, "Get Down", was first played on the radio on July 2, 2009. This song was also nominated for an award at the Canadian Radio Music Awards. These awards celebrate new songs that are played the most on Canadian radio stations.
On November 29, 2010, Emmalyn released her first music video. It was for her song "Don't Make Me Let You Go". This video was released through her new record label, TUG Music Entertainment.
Becoming Famous with G.R.L. (2013–2015)
In March 2013, Emmalyn had a role in the TV show Bates Motel.
From 2013 to 2015, she was a member of the girl group G.R.L.. The other members were Lauren Bennett, Natasha Slayton, Paula van Oppen, and Simone Battle. The group had several popular songs. These included "Vacation" from the movie The Smurfs 2. They also released "Wild Wild Love" with Pitbull, "Ugly Heart", and "Lighthouse". The song "Lighthouse" was dedicated to their group-mate Simone Battle, who passed away in September 2014.
Solo Music (2016–2019)
After leaving G.R.L., Emmalyn started releasing solo music again. On September 28, 2016, she released a song called "Hungover". A music video for this song came out on October 4.
In 2017, Emmalyn released more songs. "Phone Off" came out on May 5, and "Bigger Than You" was released on June 2. She also performed at a music festival in Los Angeles on August 20, 2017.
G.R.L. Gets Back Together (2020–Present)
In 2020, Emmalyn started sharing short dance videos online with her former bandmates Lauren Bennett, Natasha Slayton, and Paula Van Oppen. In 2021, Emmalyn announced that she, Natasha Slayton, and Lauren Bennett would reunite as G.R.L. They planned to release new music starting that year.
