Energy is a small, unincorporated community in Comanche County, Texas, in the United States. This means it's not officially a town or city with its own local government. Energy is mostly known for its post office. A big dairy farm is also nearby. In the year 2000, about 65 people lived here.
History of Energy, Texas
The area that is now Energy was first settled around 1896. Two brothers, Will and Charlie Baxter, opened a store there. They named the community "Energy" because the people living there were very "energetic" and hardworking.
A post office was also set up in Energy around 1896. John W. Moore was the first postmaster. In 1940, the community had 67 residents. By the year 2000, the population had slightly decreased to 65 people. Even though Energy is not an official town, it still has its own post office with the ZIP Code 76452.
On April 11, 1979, a strong tornado hit Energy. It caused damage to barns and roofs of homes. One person was hurt when her truck rolled over while she was trying to find shelter.
Where is Energy Located?
Energy is found on Farm to Market Road 1702. It is about 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Comanche, which is another town in Comanche County.
