Comanche is a city in Comanche County, Texas, in the United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Comanche County. In 2020, about 4,211 people lived in Comanche.

History of Comanche
In 1850, a military road called the "Corn Trail" was built through the area. This road helped supply forts and encouraged people to settle there. The town of Comanche was started in 1856. It officially became a city in 1858.
Near the modern courthouse, you can still see the "Old Cora Courthouse." This is a preserved log building. It is one of the oldest wooden courthouses still standing in Texas. Cora was the county seat before Comanche, but it later became the town of Gustine.
Geography and Climate
Comanche is located in Texas. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 4.5 square miles (11.8 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.

Comanche is on the main line of the Fort Worth and Western Railroad. As of 2024, this train line is only used for carrying goods (freight). There are no passenger trains for people to ride.

The Comanche County–City Airport is located northeast of Comanche. It is a general aviation airport. This means it is used for private planes and smaller aircraft, not large commercial flights. The city of Comanche and Comanche County own this airport together.
