The Original Engleside Hotel

The first Engleside Hotel was a top choice for visitors to Long Beach Island. People loved its beautiful design and comfortable rooms. It was a perfect place for families and travelers to enjoy their summer holidays.
Demolition and Remaining Pieces
Sadly, the original Engleside Hotel was taken down during WWII. After it was torn down, many of its unique parts were sold at an auction. For example, the lovely stained glass windows from the dining room found a new home.
The director of the Harvey Cedars Bible Conference bought these windows. This conference is located on the northern part of Long Beach Island. The windows were placed in their chapel and stayed there for many years. However, strong winds eventually damaged them, and they had to be removed.
Where the Old Hotel Stood
Today, the exact spot where the original Engleside Hotel once stood is a memorial park. This park is just one block away from the current Engleside Hotel. It serves as a reminder of the historic building that once welcomed so many guests.
