A Look at History

In 1611, a group of 300 soldiers was sent to find a new place to live. They were ordered by the Virginia Company of London. Their goal was to move away from the swampy and unsafe area of Jamestown. They wanted to build a new capital for Virginia.

These soldiers, led by Sir Thomas Dale, found the area we now call Enon. This new settlement became the second successful British colony in Virginia.

For many years, Enon stayed mostly undeveloped. But things started to change in 1988. This was when the River's Bend Golf Course was built. Along with the golf course, new homes were also built in the River's Bend area. Since then, many other neighborhoods have been created in Enon. One of these new areas is called Meadowville.
