Enrico Toselli facts for kids
Enrico Toselli (born March 13, 1883 – died January 15, 1926) was a talented Italian pianist and composer. He was also known as the Count of Montignoso. Enrico was born in the beautiful city of Florence, Italy.
He learned to play the piano from Giovanni Sgambati. He also studied how to compose music with Giuseppe Martucci and Reginaldo Grazzini. Enrico became a concert pianist, performing in many places. He played in Italy, big cities across Europe, Alexandria, and even North America.
One of his most famous pieces of music is called Serenata 'Rimpianto' Op.6 No.1. He also wrote two short operas, known as operettas. These were La cattiva Francesca (1912) and La principessa bizzarra (1913).
A Royal Marriage
Enrico Toselli became very well-known not just for his music. He was also famous for marrying Archduchess Louise of Austria in 1907. She was a royal princess and had been the Crown Princess of Saxony.
Louise had previously been married to Frederick Augustus III of Saxony. They had divorced in 1903. Her former husband later became the king of Saxony in 1904.
Enrico and Louise had one son together. His name was Carlo Emanuele, born on May 7, 1908. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1912.
Later Life and Works
After his divorce, Enrico Toselli wrote a book. It was about his marriage to the royal princess. The book was called Mari d’altesse: 4 ans de mariage avec Louise de Toscane, ex-princesse de Saxe. It was published in French.
Enrico Toselli passed away in 1926. He was only 43 years old. He died from a lung illness called tuberculosis.
