Enrique Fernández Romero, born on June 23, 1971, is a Spanish former professional football player. He was known for playing as a left-back, which is a defensive position on the left side of the field.
Romero played for four different clubs during his 16-year career. He is most famous for his time at Deportivo, where he helped the team win four big titles. This included their only La Liga championship, which is Spain's top football league. He played 396 games in the top division and scored 14 goals.
He also played for the Spanish national team and represented his country at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Enrique Romero was born in Jerez de la Frontera, a city in Spain. He began his professional football journey with CD Logroñés. In his first two seasons, he played only a few games in La Liga, Spain's top football league.
Playing for Top Spanish Teams
By the 1993–94 season, Romero became a regular player for Logroñés. After that, he played for Valencia CF and RCD Mallorca. At both clubs, he was a key player, appearing in at least 30 league matches each season.
In 1998, Romero joined Deportivo de La Coruña. This is where he truly shined as an attacking left-back. He played in 50 UEFA Champions League matches for Deportivo. He also helped the team win their first national championship in the 1999–2000 season.
Retirement from Football
In the summer of 2006, Romero moved to Real Betis. He played one season there before deciding to retire from professional football. He was 36 years old at the time. By then, he had played in over 500 competitive matches, with nearly 400 of those in Spain's top division.
Romero's International Career
Enrique Romero played ten games for the Spanish national team. His first game was a friendly match against Croatia on February 23, 2000.
He proudly represented Spain at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea. He played in three matches during the tournament. Spain reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup that year.
