Enrique Fidel Verástegui Peláez (born April 24, 1950 – died July 27, 2018) was a talented Peruvian writer and mathematician. He was known for his poetry, novels, and philosophical ideas. He was also an important member of a group of poets called Movimiento Hora Zero.

About Enrique Verástegui

Enrique Verástegui was born in Lima, Perú, but he grew up in a city called San Vicente de Cañete. He finished his high school studies there. Later, he moved back to Lima and studied economics, administration, and accounting at the National University of San Marcos.

In 1975, his poems were recorded for the Library of Congress in the United States. He also worked for El Colegio de México. A year later, in 1976, he received a special award called a Guggenheim Fellowship. This award helps people who are very talented in arts or sciences.

His Work and Ideas

In 1977, Enrique Verástegui helped start the second part of Movimiento Hora Zero in Paris, France. He also published his book The Motor of Desire (El motor del deseo). In 1978, he read his poems at the tomb of a famous Peruvian poet, César Vallejo. This was a big honor and he even received congratulations from Julio Ramón Ribeyro, who was a Peruvian diplomat at UNESCO.

Enrique Verástegui wrote many different kinds of books. In 1992, he published a series of three novels called Terceto de Lima. He also wrote a book in 1999 called Pro-total Apology: Essay on Stephen Hawkings. This book explored new ideas in algebra. He even came up with a new way of thinking and solving problems, which he called the "Scientific Research Method of pre-duction." He also published another important book called El Modelo del Teorema (The model of the theorem).

Enrique Verástegui was a very creative writer who explored many different topics. He wrote a lot of:

  • Poetry: He wrote many collections of poems, like En los extramuros del mundo and Angelus novus.
  • Philosophy: He explored deep ideas about life and the world in books such as El motor del deseo and Apología pro totalidad.
  • Mathematics: He combined his love for numbers and ideas in books like Teoría y práctica de Xalmo and El modelo del teorema.
  • Novels and Tales: He wrote exciting stories, including the novel series Terceto de Lima and short stories like El laboratorio del profesor Rangel.
  • Theater and Music: He also wrote plays and ideas for musical works, such as El exorcismo de Bellmer and Proyecto para una òpera en New York.
  • Scripts: He even wrote scripts for films, including one titled Cimarrones.

Enrique Verástegui passed away on July 27, 2018, but his many books and ideas continue to inspire people.
