Eoin McLaughlin is a popular Irish writer. He writes books that many people love. His books have been translated into 28 different languages! One newspaper, The Times, even said his books are "an important historical record of the time."

Eoin McLaughlin's Popular Books
The Hug Series
Eoin's first picture book was called The Hug. Polly Dunbar drew the pictures for it. The Guardian newspaper chose The Hug as a 'Book of the Year'. It was also nominated for the CBI Book of the Year Awards. This book has been translated into more than 25 languages!
The next book in the series was While We Can't Hug. This book was very helpful for children around the world during the COVID-19 lockdowns. It was nominated for the Irish Book Awards and the Carnegie Medal. The Guardian also included it in their 'Children's Books of the Year'. Famous TV personality Mr Tumble even read it on the BBC on Christmas Day.
More books in this series followed. The Longer the Wait, the Bigger the Hug came out in June 2021. After that, The Roar and Merry Whatmas were released. Merry Whatmas was named one of the best picture books of 2023.
Other Exciting Books
Eoin has written other fun books too. Secret Agent Elephant has pictures by Ross Collins. It was published by Hachette Book Group. Their second book together is Inspector Penguin. The Guardian newspaper said Inspector Penguin has "a plot worthy of Agatha Christie". This means the story is very clever and mysterious!
Another book, The Case of the Missing Cake, has illustrations by Marc Boutavant. Walker Books published this one. The Guardian also featured it as one of the best new children's books of the month.
Eoin's Work at Channel 4
Besides writing books, Eoin McLaughlin is a creative director at Channel 4. This is a big TV channel. He has worked on many popular shows there. Some of these include Complaints Welcome, Taskmaster, Derry Girls, and The Great British Bake Off.
He also worked on the Paralympics coverage. For his work on the Paralympics, he won a special award called the Cannes Lions Grand Prix. This is a very important award in the world of advertising and creativity.
