Eoin McLaughlin's Famous "Hug" Books
Eoin McLaughlin's very first picture book was called The Hug. Polly Dunbar created the wonderful pictures for it. The Guardian newspaper picked The Hug as one of their 'Books of the Year'. It was also a finalist for the CBI Book of the Year Awards. This book has been translated into more than 25 languages.
Helping Kids During Lockdowns
The next book in the series was While We Can't Hug. This book became very important around the world. It helped children understand things during the COVID-19 lockdowns. While We Can't Hug was a finalist for the Irish Book Awards. It was also nominated for the Carnegie Medal, a big award for children's books.
The Guardian included it in their 'Children's Books of the Year'. Even Mr Tumble read it on BBC television on Christmas Day!
