Eoline is a small, unincorporated community located in Bibb County, Alabama, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
You can find Eoline along U.S. Route 82, about 8.1 miles (13 km) northwest of Centreville. In 2011, a very strong tornado hit the area. Sadly, the Eoline Fire Department building was destroyed during this storm.
Exploring Eoline's Past
How Eoline Got Its Name
Eoline was once a stop along the Mobile and Ohio Railroad. The community was named after the daughter of Edward Russell. He was the Vice-President of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad at the time.
What Eoline Was Like Long Ago
In the past, Eoline was a busy little place. It had three different stores where people could buy things. There was also a boarding stable, which was a place where travelers could keep their horses. Eoline even had its own hotel and a newspaper!
A post office served the community for many years. It operated under the name Eoline from 1898 until 1957.
