Eric Norman Felton was born on October 8, 1955. He is a former American football player who played as a cornerback. A cornerback is a defensive player whose job is to cover the opposing team's wide receivers. Eric played for three seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was part of two famous teams: the New Orleans Saints and the New York Giants. Before joining the NFL, Eric was picked by the Saints in the fifth round of the 1978 NFL draft. He played college football at Texas Tech University.

Eric Norman Felton was born on October 8, 1955. His hometown is Austin, Texas, in the United States. When he was growing up, Eric went to Lubbock High School. This high school is located in Lubbock, Texas.
College Football Days
Eric Felton played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was a student at Texas Tech University from 1974 to 1977. Eric was a "letterman" for three years, from 1975 to 1977. Being a letterman means he played well enough to earn a special award.
In 1976, Eric showed off his skills. He returned three interceptions for a total of 69 yards. An interception happens when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an opposing player. He also returned four punts for 21 yards. A punt return is when a player catches a kicked ball and runs it back.
During his senior year in 1977, Eric continued to make big plays. He returned one interception for two yards. He also returned one punt for 11 yards. On that punt return, he even scored a touchdown! Because of his great performance in 1977, Eric was named second-team All-SWC. This was a big honor given by United Press International.
Playing in the NFL
Eric Felton was chosen by the New Orleans Saints in the 1978 NFL draft. He was the 115th player picked overall in the fifth round. This was a big step for him to play professional football.
With the New Orleans Saints
In 1978, his first year with the Saints, Eric played in all 16 games. He started two of those games. During that season, he made one interception.
In 1979, Eric played in 13 games for the Saints. He started ten of those games. He had a great year, recording four interceptions. These interceptions added up to 53 yards. The Saints decided to release Eric from their team on August 26, 1980.
Joining the New York Giants
After leaving the Saints, Eric Felton signed with the New York Giants. He joined the team on November 12, 1980. For the Giants, he played in six games during the 1980 season. He started three of those games. Eric was released by the Giants in 1981.
