Eric Gerard Laneuville (born July 14, 1952) is an American director, producer, and actor. He is well-known for his acting role as Luther Hawkins in the TV series St. Elsewhere. Eric also appeared in movies like The Omega Man (1971) and A Force of One (1979). Today, he often directs popular TV shows such as Blue Bloods and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Eric Laneuville: Actor and Director
Starting as an Actor
Eric Laneuville was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He began acting when he was in junior high school. He often played characters who were younger than his actual age. Eric performed in several school musicals, including Bye Bye Birdie and Oklahoma!.
While still in high school, he started acting professionally. He became a regular on the TV show Room 222. He also appeared in three episodes of Sanford and Son. In 1982, Eric got his most famous acting role as Luther Hawkins in the TV series St. Elsewhere. He stayed with the show until it ended in 1988.
Eric also acted in several films. These include The Omega Man (1971), Death Wish (1974), and A Force of One (1979). In A Force of One, he played the adopted son of Chuck Norris's character.
Becoming a Director
Eric Laneuville started directing in 1984. His first directing jobs were for episodes of St. Elsewhere. Since then, he has directed many popular TV shows. Some of these include:

In 1988, Eric made history. He became the first African-American TV director to film in Russia. He directed a two-part episode for the series Head of the Class. As Eric's directing career grew, he acted less often. He usually took small guest roles. His most recent acting appearance was in 2014 on Blue Bloods. He also directed that episode. Before that, he appeared as Dr. Lamar in the TV series Scrubs.
