The Story of Oklahoma!
The musical's story takes place in 1906. This was before Oklahoma became a state. The setting is a farming area outside the town of Claremore in Oklahoma Territory.
Main Characters
The main character is a friendly cowboy named Curly McLain. He is in love with a farm girl named Laurey Williams. But another farm hand, Jud Fry, also likes Laurey. This creates some drama in the story.
The musical also follows another fun couple. There's a cowboy named Will Parker. His girlfriend is a lively girl named Ado Annie. Their story adds humor and excitement to the show.
From Stage to Screen
Oklahoma! was so popular that it was made into a movie. The film version came out in 1955. This allowed even more people to enjoy the musical's songs and story.
