When Hugh was eight, his parents divorced. He stayed in Australia with his father and two brothers. His mother moved back to England with his two sisters. As a child, Hugh loved being outdoors. He spent a lot of time at the beach and went camping. He dreamed of seeing the world. He once said he wanted to be a chef on a plane so he could travel.
