Coaching the Chicago Bears
Eric Washington first worked with the Chicago Bears in 2005. He was an intern as part of a special coaching program. He later coached at Northwestern University. In 2008, the Bears hired him as a defensive assistant. This meant he helped the defense. In 2010, he became the defensive line coach for the Bears.
Coaching the Carolina Panthers
In 2011, the Carolina Panthers hired Washington. He became their defensive line coach. He helped the defensive players who try to stop the other team's offense. In January 2018, he got a big promotion. He became the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. This meant he was in charge of the entire defense.

On January 23, 2025, the Bears announced that Washington would not stay with the team for the 2025 season.
Coaching the New York Jets
