Ernest Morrell's Education
Ernest Morrell studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1993. The next year, he received his teaching license for high school English. He then went to the University of California, Berkeley. There, he earned a Master of Arts degree in education in 1997. In 2001, he completed his Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture.
Ernest Morrell's Career
Morrell started his teaching journey in 1994. He taught English at Oakland High School in Oakland, California. While teaching there, he also worked at the University of California Berkeley. He helped train new teachers for the University of San Francisco.
In 1999, he became a research associate at UCLA's Center X. He also taught as an adjunct faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles Graduate School of Education. From 2001 to 2005, he was an assistant professor at Michigan State University. He also continued as a visiting professor at UCLA. In 2007, he became an associate professor at UCLA.
