Ernst-Paul Hasselbach (born May 23, 1965 – died October 11, 2008) was a famous TV host and producer from the Netherlands. He was well-known for hosting many popular TV shows in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
Early Life and Travels
Ernst-Paul Hasselbach had a Dutch father and a Surinamese mother. Because of his father's job, Ernst-Paul lived in many different countries as he grew up. He lived in the Netherlands, Suriname, Kenya, Indonesia, and Canada.
After finishing high school in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he moved back to the Netherlands. There, he studied in Amsterdam. Besides his studies in physical education, he also learned English at the Vrije Universiteit.
His TV Career
Ernst-Paul Hasselbach started working in television in 1995. He became very famous for hosting and producing Expeditie Robinson. This show is the Dutch-Belgian version of the popular TV series Survivor. He worked on ten seasons of Expeditie Robinson between 2000 and 2008.
In 2004, he also hosted the first season of another exciting show called Peking Express.
Family Life
Ernst-Paul had a brother named Harald Hasselbach. Harald was a successful football player. He won the Super Bowl championship with the Denver Broncos in 1997 and 1998. He also won the Grey Cup championship with the Calgary Stampeders in 1992.
His Passing
Ernst-Paul Hasselbach passed away in a car accident on October 11, 2008. This happened in Lom, Norway, while he was filming for the TV show 71° Noord. He is remembered by his girlfriend, Gracia Witteman, their daughter, and his two sons from an earlier relationship.
