Ernst Ziegler (born Ernst Aldoff, 16 April 1894 – 11 April 1974) was a German actor. He was known for his roles in movies and on television.
About Ernst Ziegler
Ernst Ziegler started his acting career in 1932. His first movie was a German film called Die verkaufte Braut. He then acted in many other German movies and TV shows.
In 1970, he was in an American movie called Something for Everyone. This film starred the famous actress Angela Lansbury.
One of his most well-known roles was in the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He played Grandpa George, who was Charlie Bucket's grandfather. This was his last movie role.
Towards the end of his life, Ziegler's health was not good. He had trouble seeing, partly because of an injury from the First World War. He passed away in April 1974 in West Berlin, when he was 79 years old.
