Escañuela is a small village, also called a pueblo, in the province of Jaén, Spain. In 2006, about 950 people lived there. By 2018, the population was 949.
For a long time, the main way people made a living in Escañuela was by growing olives. These olives are mostly used to make olive oil. Today, many young people from Escañuela work in the bigger city of Jaén, which is nearby.
The village church is dedicated to a special saint called San Pedro ad vincula, which means 'Saint Peter in Chains'. The big yearly festival, or fiesta, in the first week of August is named after him. This fiesta is a time for lots of fun and celebration.
