Esmée Denters (born September 28, 1988) is a Dutch singer and YouTuber who became famous online. In 2006, she started posting videos of herself singing covers of popular songs by artists like Justin Timberlake and Natasha Bedingfield.

Her talent caught the eye of Justin Timberlake, who signed her as the first artist on his record label, Tennman Records. In May 2009, she released her first album, Outta Here, and even toured across the United States with Timberlake. After leaving the label, Denters moved to London and competed on the TV show The Voice UK.

She has continued to release music independently, including the EPs These Days in 2017 and Past, Present, Future in 2020.

Early Life

Esmée Denters was born on September 28, 1988, in Arnhem, a city in the Netherlands. She grew up in nearby towns and graduated from high school in 2006.

After high school, she started studying social work at a university. However, she left in her first year to follow her dream of becoming a singer after signing with Tennman Records in 2007.

Music Career

=2006–2008: YouTube Star

On August 25, 2006, Esmée Denters created her YouTube channel. She began uploading videos of herself singing her favorite pop songs. Her videos quickly became popular and got millions of views.

Her online fame led to a trip to the United States, where she started writing and recording her own music. Her talent soon attracted the attention of superstar Justin Timberlake. He was so impressed that he signed her to his record label, Tennman Records, and helped produce her first album. She even appeared on famous TV shows like Oprah.

2009–2010: First Album and Tours

In 2009, Denters released her first single, "Outta Here". The song was a hit in the Netherlands, reaching number five on the charts. Her album of the same name, Outta Here, came out on May 22, 2009. It was a mix of pop and R&B music, with both slow and fast songs.

She toured with the Honor Society and released more singles, like "Admit It" and "Love Dealer". During this time, she also worked with other famous artists. She toured with Ne-Yo and Enrique Iglesias and sang on the song "Life Without You" with the German band Stanfour. She was also featured on the hit song "Until You Were Gone" with British rapper Chipmunk, which became a top-three hit in the UK.

Her success earned her an MTV Europe Music Award in 2009 and a European Border Breakers Award in 2010.

2011–2014: A New Direction

In 2011, Denters began working on her second album. However, in 2012, she and Tennman Records parted ways. That same year, she worked with Dutch DJ Erik Arbores on a song for the charity Dance4Life.

After becoming an independent artist, Denters returned to the stage in 2014. She performed new songs in London, showing her fans she was still making music. Later that year, she released her first independent single, "If I Could I Would."

2015–Present: The Voice UK and Independent Music

In 2015, Denters decided to compete on the popular TV show The Voice UK. During her audition, she impressed the judges and joined the team of will.i.am, a member of The Black Eyed Peas. She made it to the knockout rounds before being eliminated.

Denters continued to create music on her own terms. In 2017, she released a five-song collection called an EP, titled These Days. In 2020, she released another EP called Past, Present, Future, which she created during the UK lockdown.
