The Big Play: La Passió d'Esparreguera
Esparreguera is well-known for its amazing play. It is called Life and Passion of Jesus Christ. People often call it La Passió d'Esparreguera. This huge show takes place every year. You can see it in March and April. It is performed on the Sundays before and after Easter.
What Makes the Play Special?
This play is truly grand. More than 300 actors take part in it. About 50 technicians help behind the scenes. There are also 100 musicians. The play has five acts. It uses twenty different stage settings. The whole show lasts for more than five hours. It tells the story of Jesus, from choosing his apostles to his resurrection.

The people of Esparreguera make this big show possible. They are all volunteers. This tradition has been going on for a very long time. It dates back to the town's medieval past. This long history has made Esparreguera a key place for Catalan performing arts.
