Esquina is a city in Corrientes Province, Argentina. It is also the capital city of the Esquina Department. This city is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and fun festivals.
History of Esquina
The city of Esquina was founded by Benito Lamela in 1806. He was the one who gave the city its name. In April 2016, Esquina experienced a big flood. A large part of the city went underwater because of heavy rains. More than 300 people had to leave their homes for safety. In some areas, the water was about 1 meter (3 feet) deep!
Fun Festivals in Esquina
Esquina is a lively place, especially during its festivals! Many tourists visit the city to join in the fun. In January and February, many visitors come to enjoy the exciting street carnivals. These events are full of music, dancing, and colorful parades. In March, the city hosts a special event called the Fiesta Nacional del Pacú. This is a big fishing competition that attracts about 25,000 visitors. People come from all over to try and catch the biggest pacú fish.
