Estatoah Falls facts for kids
Estatoah Falls are beautiful waterfalls found in Rabun County, Georgia. They are located on Mud Creek. These amazing falls drop hundreds of feet! You can see them from far away. They are on private land, so you can't visit them up close. But you can still enjoy the view from State Route 246. Above the main falls is a pretty place called Spring Lake.
Where Does the Name Come From?
The name Estatoah Falls comes from a Cherokee village. This village was called Eastertoy. It was likely located near Dillard, Georgia. Estatoah is just another way to spell Eastertoy. The Cherokee people have a long history in this area.
Little Estatoah Falls
There are also smaller waterfalls nearby. They are about 100 feet tall. These falls are called Little Estatoah Falls. You might also hear them called Mud Creek Falls. They are located in the small resort town of Sky Valley, Georgia.
