Esteban Efraín Paredes Quintanilla (born August 1, 1980) is a famous Chilean former football player. He played as a forward, which means he was a goal scorer.
Esteban Paredes is known for being the first player to be the top goal scorer in Chile's top league, the Primera División de Chile, five times! He scored an amazing 286 goals in his career. He holds the record for the most goals ever in Chile's first-tier tournaments, with 217 goals. On October 5, 2019, he broke this record, passing Francisco Valdés, during a big game against Universidad de Chile.

Esteban's Football Journey
Esteban Paredes started his football journey in the youth teams of Santiago Morning. He joined their main team in 2000.
Playing for Colo-Colo
In 2009, Esteban joined one of Chile's biggest clubs, Colo-Colo. He quickly became a very important player. That year, he helped the team win the Torneo Clausura championship. He scored two goals in the final game, helping his team win the title. He played for Colo-Colo until 2012, then returned in 2014 and played there until 2021.
Retirement and Comebacks
In May 2022, after playing for Coquimbo Unido, Esteban Paredes announced he was retiring from professional football. He had scored 367 goals in his career by then! However, in June 2023, he decided to play again, signing with San Antonio Unido. He retired once more, but then returned to play for Santiago Morning in August 2024. He announced his final retirement at the end of the 2024 season.
Playing for Chile
Esteban Paredes also played for the Chile national team. He represented his country in two World Cups: in 2010 and 2014. He also played in the 2011 Copa América tournament. He scored 12 goals for his country.
Life After Playing Football
In February 2024, Esteban Paredes became the sport manager for Santiago Morning. This is the club where he first started his playing career!
In December 2024, he also finished his studies to become a football manager. He studied at the National Institute of Football, Sports and Physical Activity in Chile.
Esteban's Family and Other Activities
Esteban has a son named Esteban Paredes Lastra. His son also played football in the youth teams of Colo-Colo and Palestino.
In August 2022, Esteban joined TNT Sports Chile. He became a co-host on a cooking and talk show called Sabor a Gol. He also works with a sports betting app called Juega en Linea.
