Estefanía Muñiz Villa, born on January 8, 1974, in León, Spain, is a talented Spanish film director and scriptwriter. She is also a film critic and has written two books of poetry.

Her Work in Film
Estefanía Muñiz first worked as a lawyer for over five years. But her true passion was filmmaking, so she decided to focus on that. She studied acting at the Escuela de Actores (Acting School). She also took many courses to learn how to write movie scripts.
Her first movie project was a short film called Construir (2003). She directed it with Ana Prieto Gracia. This film won first prize at The Torino Film Festival. It was even shown on TV in Sweden and Norway for a long time.
After that, Estefanía directed two more short films. One was called No me quieras tanto (2003). This film won several awards. It received the Best Video Creation award at the Alcalá de Henares Film Festival. It also won the Best Gender Equality Short Film award at the Villareal Film Festival.
Her third short film, Ecos (2006), became famous outside Europe. It starred Mercè Llorens and the violinist Ara Malikian. Ara Malikian also created the music for the film. Ecos won first prize at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. It also won Best Short Film at the Lago Film Festival in Italy.
After making several successful short films, Estefanía Muñiz wrote her first full-length movie script. The film was called Vértice. The Comunidad de Madrid, a Spanish government group, helped fund this project. They also published the script in 2008.
In 2014, she started working with American film companies. A company called Light Age Films asked her to write a script for a feature film. This film was released in 2015. Estefanía also writes movie reviews for an online magazine called Guía del Ocio.
Her Poetry Books
Besides her film work, Estefanía Muñiz has published two books of poetry. Her first book, Corazón ombligo, came out in 2004. A painter and sculptor named José Ramón Villa created the pictures for this book.
Her second poetry book was titled Versos bipolares y otras criaturas luminiscentes (2009). A famous Spanish singer, Joaquín Sabina, wrote the introduction for this book. Estefanía also contributed poems to two collections published by Ediciones Atlantis. These collections were called Tic-tac (2006) and Golpe a la corrupción (2013).
