Estelle, Georgia facts for kids
Estelle is a small place located in Walker County, in the state of Georgia, USA. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and sometimes businesses that are not officially a city or town with their own local government. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
A Look Back: The History of Estelle
The community of Estelle got its name from a business called the Estelle Mining Company. This company was important in the area during its early days.
A post office was opened in Estelle in 1883. Having a post office was a big step for any community back then. It made it easier for people to send and receive letters and packages, connecting them to the outside world. This also showed that Estelle was a growing place.
However, the post office in Estelle did not stay open for a long time. It closed down in 1905. This might have happened because fewer people lived in the area, or perhaps the mining company became less active.
