Ettore Maserati (born 1894 – died 1990) was an Italian engineer. He helped start the famous Maserati car company. Ettore was one of five brothers who founded the company in Bologna, Italy, in 1914. He was born in a town called Voghera.

Early Life and Career

Ettore's oldest brother, Carlo Maserati, introduced him to the car world. In 1908, Carlo took him to work at a company called Junior. After Carlo passed away, another brother, Bindo Maserati, helped Ettore. Bindo brought Ettore and Alfieri Maserati to work for Isotta Fraschini. This company made luxury cars. Working there, Ettore traveled around the world before World War I. He also worked at Franco Tosi meccanica, where he was a top engineer for engines.

Founding Maserati

From 1914 to 1938, Ettore was very involved in the Maserati company. This company built amazing racing cars in Bologna. In 1937, a man named Adolfo Orsi bought the company. In 1940, Ettore and his brothers, Ernesto Maserati and Bindo Maserati, moved with the company. They moved from Bologna to Modena.

Later Years

After World War II, in 1947, the Maserati brothers started a new company. They called it O.S.C.A.-Maserati. This new company was also in Bologna. Ettore Maserati worked there until he retired in 1966. He passed away in 1990.
