Eva Lindström (2014)

Eva Lindström (born in 1952) is a talented Swedish artist who writes and illustrates books. Her work is famous for being both funny and a little bit serious or dark at the same time.

About Eva Lindström's Life

Eva Lindström was born in a city called Västerås in Sweden in 1952. She went to an art school named Konstfack in Stockholm from 1969 to 1974. There, she studied painting. During her time at art school, she was part of a group that wanted to use art to talk about important ideas and make a difference in society. This period helped shape her unique and thoughtful art style.

She started her career in the 1980s by drawing cartoons. Her very first book was called Kattmössan, which means The Cat Hat. She wrote the story and drew all the pictures for it. Later, in 1996, she published her second book, Lurix. Eva Lindström is especially well-known for her wonderful children's books, like Berättesler om Mats Och Roj (which means Somebody Moves In—Stories About Mats and Roj) from 2002, and Olli Och Mo (Olli and Mo) from 2012.

Eva Lindström's Art Style

Eva Lindström often creates her illustrations using watercolor paints. She also uses gouache (which is like opaque watercolor) or pencils to add details and textures. People who have reviewed her work, like those who nominated her for the Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature Prize, have said her art is "often funny and clever." They also noted that her work has "an existential depth," meaning it makes you think about big life questions in a meaningful way.
