Eveline Klett (born October 9, 1949) is a German former politician. She was a member of the State Council of East Germany, which was like the country's main leadership group, from 1986 to 1989.

Early Life and Education

Eveline Klett was born in 1949 in Vielau, a town near Zwickau, Germany. She learned a skill called turning, which means shaping metal or wood using a special machine. This was part of an apprenticeship, where she trained for a job.

Later, in 1970 and 1971, she attended a special school for the SED party. This school helped train people for political roles.

Political Career

Eveline Klett joined several important groups in East Germany. In 1964, she became a member of the Free German Youth, which was a youth organization. In 1969, she joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED), which was the main political party in East Germany. She also joined the Democratic Women's League of Germany in 1976.

In 1976, Klett became a member of the Volkskammer. The Volkskammer was like the parliament or main law-making body of East Germany. She stayed a member until the election in 1990.

Role in Leadership

Eveline Klett was seen as one of the women who were part of the East German leadership. This meant she was chosen to be in a visible position.

She lived and worked in Zwickau. To attend political meetings, she would travel to Berlin at least once a month. After the Peaceful Revolution and German reunification (when East and West Germany became one country again), she stopped working in politics.
