The Ewenny River (called Afon Ewenni in Welsh) is a cool river in South Wales. For most of its 10-mile (16 km) journey, it acts like a natural border. It separates the Vale of Glamorgan area from Bridgend. This river is a big helper to the River Ogmore, joining it close to where the Ogmore meets the sea.

River's Journey
The Ewenny River starts its journey in South Wales. It begins north-east of Bridgend town. Here, two smaller rivers, Ewenny Fach and Ewenny Fawr, come together.
How the River Starts
The Ewenny Fawr is actually formed when three tiny streams meet up. These streams are called Nant Canna, Nant Ciwc, and Nant Crymlyn. This part of the river flows towards the south-east. It passes by the village of Pencoed. It also goes under the M4 motorway.
Flowing South
The Ewenny Fach joins the Ewenny Fawr south of Junction 35 of the M4. From this point, the river turns south. It then flows through an area called Ewenni Moor. It also passes the village of Waterton.
River Changes
Waterton has a big industrial area. To stop flooding, a few miles of the river were made straight. They were also moved a bit. The river then flows through the villages of Ewenny and Ogmore.
Joining the Ogmore
Finally, the Ewenny River flows into the River Ogmore's estuary. This happens just below Ogmore Castle. One of the Ewenny's important helper rivers is the Afon Alun. The Afon Alun flows west for a few miles. It then meets the Ewenny north of Ogmore.
Fishing Fun
The Ewenny River is a great spot for fishing! It has lots of grayling. You can also find sewin here.
Where the River Ends
The Ewenny River meets the Ogmore River near Ogmore Castle. This castle is south of the river. Where the two rivers meet, there are stepping stones. These stones let you walk across the Ewenny River. But be careful, they don't cross the bigger Ogmore River!
