Club History
Early Football in Alzano
Football in Alzano started way back in 1909. This is when the club Foot-Ball Club Alzano was founded.
In 1993, a new club was formed. It was called Alzano 1909 Virescit Football Club. This happened when Foot-Ball Club Alzano joined with another team, Centro Giovanile Virescit Boccaleone. That team from Bergamo had been quite successful in the 1980s.
The new Alzano 1909 Virescit F.C. started in Serie D in 1993. They quickly moved up two leagues in a row. This brought them to play in Serie C1. In 1999, Alzano won Serie C1/A. They finished first, ahead of Como.
However, their time in Serie B only lasted one season. The team went back down to Serie C1 the next year. They then moved to Serie C2 in 2003. After that, the club had money problems. Because of this, the football federation stopped them from playing.
Rebuilding and Mergers
The club was started again in 2004. It was named A.S.D F.C. Alzano 1909. This team played for three seasons in a league called Prima Categoria Lombardy.
In 2007, A.S.D. Football Club Alzano 1909 joined with Ardens Cene. Ardens Cene was a team from Cene. This new team was called AlzanoCene. In the 2007–08 season, AlzanoCene was promoted from Eccellenza Lombardy to Serie D.
Football in Cene
The history of football in Cene began in 1947. This is when U.S. Cene was founded. In 1965, this club was re-established as Ardens Cene.
Alzano Seriate and Virtus CiseranoBergamo
On May 31, 2015, FC AlzanoCene officially merged with another team. This team was Aurora Seriate Calcio, also from Lombardy and playing in Serie D. The new club was named Alzano Seriate 1909.
Finally, in 2019, Alzano Seriate 1909 merged with Ciserano Calcio. This created the club we know today, Virtus CiseranoBergamo 1909.
