Virtus CiseranoBergamo 1909 is an Italian football club. It comes from Ciserano, a town in Lombardy, Italy. The club was formed in 2019. It was created when two teams, Ciserano Calcio and Virtus Bergamo, joined together. Virtus Bergamo was actually the team that came from Alzano Virescit. That older club even played in Serie B, which is a very high level of football in Italy!
Club History
How the Club Was Formed
Alzano Seriate
On May 31, 2015, a club called FC AlzanoCene joined with another team. This other team was Aurora Seriate Calcio. Both teams were from Lombardy and played in Serie D. After they merged, the new club was named Alzano Seriate 1909.
Virtus CiseranoBergamo
In 2019, Alzano Seriate 1909 merged again. This time, it joined with Ciserano Calcio. This new merger created the club we know today: Virtus CiseranoBergamo 1909. This brought together the football history of several towns.
Football in Alzano Before the Mergers
Foot-Ball Club Alzano
Football started in Alzano a long time ago. The first club was founded in 1909. It was called Foot-Ball Club Alzano.
Alzano 1909 Virescit F.C.
In the summer of 1993, two clubs merged. These were Foot-Ball Club Alzano and Centro Giovanile Virescit Boccaleone. The new team was named Alzano 1909 Virescit Football Club. Centro Giovanile Virescit Boccaleone was a successful club from Bergamo. It had played in Serie C1 in the 1980s.
The new club started in Serie D in 1993. They quickly moved up two leagues in a row! This brought them to Serie C1. In 1999, Alzano won Serie C1/A. They finished first, even ahead of Como.
The team then played in Serie B, a very important league. However, their time in Serie B lasted only one season. They went back down to Serie C1 the next year. In 2003, the club moved down to Serie C2. Sadly, the team was later removed from the league. This happened because of money problems.
A.S.D F.C. Alzano 1909
The club was started again in 2004. It was called A.S.D F.C. Alzano 1909. This team played for three seasons in Prima Categoria Lombardy.
AlzanoCene
In the summer of 2007, another merger happened. A.S.D. Football Club Alzano 1909 joined with Ardens Cene. Alzano 1909 was playing in Prima Categoria Lombardy. Ardens Cene was from Cene and played in Eccellenza Lombardy. The new club was named AlzanoCene. In the 2007–08 season, they were promoted from Eccellenza Lombardy to Serie D.
