Fair Oaks is a small, unincorporated community located in Jasper County, Indiana. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually part of a larger county or township. Fair Oaks is found within Union Township.
History of Fair Oaks
Fair Oaks became a recognized spot in the early 1880s. This happened when a new railroad line was built through the area. The railroad made it easier for people and goods to travel.
Soon after, in 1884, the Fair Oaks post office was officially opened. This meant that people living in Fair Oaks could send and receive mail more easily. The post office helped the community grow and connect with other places.
