Fairland is a friendly neighborhood located in the city of Roanoke, Virginia. You can find it in the north-central part of Roanoke, right across Interstate 581 from the Valley View Mall. Fairland shares its borders with other neighborhoods like Miller Court/Arrowood and Villa Heights to the west. To the east, it borders Roundhill and Melrose-Rugby. Back in the year 2000, about 1,492 people called Fairland home.

Fairland wasn't always full of houses! A long time ago, this area was mostly farmland. Imagine fields where crops grew instead of streets and homes.

How Fairland Grew

Over time, Fairland changed from farmland into a place where many people live. Most of the buildings you see in Fairland today were built after the 1950s. Many of the houses are made of brick and are built in a style called "ranch-style." This means they are usually one story tall and spread out.
