Fairmount is a small place in Sussex County, Delaware, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the county government.

Fairmount is known as one of the Three Sisters communities. The other two are Hollyville and Hollymount. These communities are close to each other. Fairmount is located where two roads meet: Delaware Route 5 and Delaware Route 23.

This community is also part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. A metropolitan statistical area is a region that includes a city and its surrounding areas that are closely connected, often because many people commute to the city for work.

History of Fairmount

Fairmount has always been a small community. In 1925, only about 20 people lived there. By 1960, the population had grown to 100 people. This shows that while it remained a small place, more people chose to live in Fairmount over time.
