Faith Alupo became the Member of Parliament for Pallisa district with the National Resistance Movement party. This happened after another candidate, Achola Catherine Osupelem, was removed from the election because her nomination papers didn't match her school records.

About Faith Alupo

Faith Alupo was married and worked as a social worker. She went to school in Uganda. In 1997, she finished her primary school exams at Pallisa Girls Primary School. She then got her high school certificate in 2001 from Pal and Lisa College. In 2003, she earned an advanced certificate from MM College Wairaka.

Her Career

Faith Alupo started her career helping people.

  • From 2007 to 2008, she worked as a field worker at the Office of Probation in Makindye Division.

Becoming a Member of Parliament

In 2018, the Pallisa District in Uganda was divided, and a new district called Butebo District was created. The person who was the Member of Parliament for Pallisa, Agnes Ameede, chose to represent the new Butebo District instead. This left the position for Pallisa open.

Faith Alupo won the chance to represent the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party for the seat. She received many votes in the primary election on May 28, 2018. The special election for the seat was planned for June 28. Five people wanted the job, but three of them dropped out. This left Faith Alupo and Catherine Achola from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party. Both candidates were approved by the Electoral Commission of Uganda on June 5. However, on June 19, the commission announced that Catherine Achola was removed from the race. This was because her election papers did not match her school records.

From 2018 to 2020, Faith Alupo served as a Member of Parliament in the Parliament of Uganda.
