Faith Erin Hicks is a talented Canadian cartoonist and animator. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is known for creating many exciting graphic novels.
Faith has worked on books by herself, like Zombies Calling! and Friends with Boys. She has also teamed up with other creators for books such as Nothing Could Possibly Go Wrong and Buffy: The High School Years. She also made comic series that came out regularly, like Demonology 101 and The Adventures of Superhero Girl.

About Faith Erin Hicks
Early Career and Webcomics
Faith Erin Hicks studied animation at Sheridan College. She became well-known for her long-running webcomic called Demonology 101. This comic was very popular online.
After Demonology 101, Faith created a spin-off story. It was about a character named Sachs and was called A Distant Faith. She also made a comic inspired by zombie movies, titled Zombies Calling. Another one of her comics was Ice, which was a story set in a future world.
Working in Animation and Newspapers
Faith also worked in the animation industry. She drew backgrounds for the George of the Jungle animated TV series. She also created a comic strip called Jenny’s Brothers for a newspaper, the Halifax Chronicle-Herald.
Her own comic series, The Adventures of Superhero Girl, appeared weekly. It was published in a local newspaper in Halifax, The Coast. You could also read it on her website. Later, all these comics were put together into a book by Dark Horse Comics.
Graphic Novels and Collaborations
Faith Erin Hicks has written and illustrated many graphic novels. Her book Friends with Boys was published in February 2012 by First Second. She also worked as an illustrator and co-writer for The Last of Us: American Dreams. She created this graphic novel with Neil Druckmann.
In January 2014, it was announced that Faith would illustrate a graphic novel. It was written by the popular young adult author Rainbow Rowell. This book, called Pumpkinheads, was released on August 27, 2019.
On October 26, 2020, Faith shared news about her upcoming graphic novel. It is titled Ride On and was published by First Second.
Awards and Recognition
Faith Erin Hicks has won two Eisner Awards. These are very important awards in the comic book world. In 2014, she won for "Best Publication for Kids" for The Adventures of Superhero Girl. She won another Eisner Award in 2019. This one was for "Best Publication for Kids (ages 9–12)" for her book The Nameless City: The Divided Earth.
