George of the Jungle is a fun animated TV show from Canada and the United States. It's a new version of the classic George of the Jungle cartoon from 1967. This show uses a type of animation called Flash animation.
The series first aired in Canada on Teletoon. It mostly keeps the same funny style as the old cartoon. One episode of the show usually has two 12-minute stories. The original 1967 cartoon also included other stories like Tom Slick and Super Chicken.
The first season of the show ran from June 29, 2007, to January 11, 2008. It premiered on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and on Teletoon in Canada.
After eight years, the show came back for a second season on September 10, 2016. The second season finished on February 18, 2017.

Meet the Characters
Main Characters
- George – George is a kind but not-so-smart strong man. He wears a loincloth and lives in an African jungle. He has amazing strength and courage. George often crashes into trees when swinging on vines! He protects all the animals and people in the jungle. George also acts a bit childish and talks about himself using his own name (like "George is hungry!"). In the second season, he looks more muscular, like in the original cartoon.
- Ape – Ape is a smart and sarcastic gorilla who lives with George. He's like George's older brother, parent, and best friend. Ape often tries to teach George things, but it usually doesn't work out. He's often the most sensible one in the group. In one episode, we learn Ape is 5 years old in ape years. If he hears Big Mitch's bongos, he starts dancing and can't stop! This often causes a lot of chaos. In season 2, Ape has a British accent, which fits his smart personality.
- Ursula (Season 1) / Magnolia (Season 2) – In season 1, Ursula is a tomboyish city girl who moves to the jungle with her dad, Dr. Scott. She quickly becomes good friends with Magnolia. Ursula is young and likes to try introducing modern city things, like Christmas or traffic lights, to her jungle friends. These ideas often don't go as planned! She tries her best to help her friends and is still learning about jungle life. In season 2, her name changes to Magnolia. She travels alone and hopes to find a reward from her research.
- Magnolia (Season 1) / Ursula (Season 2) – In season 1, Magnolia is a jungle native who speaks with a Southern accent. She's one of George's closest friends. She wears jungle clothes and can be very energetic. She seems to know a lot about both human and jungle life, helping Ursula understand the jungle better. She is the Witch Doctor's daughter and is training to be a Witch Doctor herself. In season 2, her name changes to Ursula. She talks almost like a caveman and often causes trouble in the jungle, being the opposite of George.
Supporting Characters
- Narrator – The Narrator tells the story of each episode. He speaks like someone narrating a nature documentary. He often starts by saying something like "To survive in the jungle," and then shows something completely different and funny.
- Dr. Scott (Season 1) / Dr. Chicago (Season 2) – In season 1, Dr. Scott is a modern doctor living in the jungle with his daughter, Ursula. He often has a friendly (but sometimes competitive) rivalry with the Witch Doctor. He tries to prove that modern science is better than the Witch Doctor's old ways, but both often fail to solve problems. In season 2, he's called Dr. Chicago and is not a father. He sometimes acts as a dentist or a villain, trying to take over the jungle. George and his friends usually defeat his plans easily.
- Witch Doctor – The Witch Doctor is a small character who believes his old magic skills can fix any problem. He often competed with Dr. Scott to see who could solve a problem first. He is not in season 2 of the show.
- Big Mitch – Big Mitch is a sneaky golden marmoset who often causes trouble. He lives in an old temple filled with treasures and traps. He always has his bongos with him.
- Shep – Shep is George's elephant friend who acts like a dog. He goes with George on most of his adventures. Shep is not very well-trained and sometimes breaks parts of the jungle. He loves to play with George.
- Tookie-Tookie Bird – This is George's second pet. He's a bird that looks like a parrot and can only say his own name.
- Howie – Howie is a howler monkey who runs a juice bar.
Other Characters
- Carl – Carl is a baboon who often plays tricks on George and Ape.
- Cousin Larry – George's proud human cousin. He always tries to win everything, no matter what. It turns out he cheats to win, so he is sent away from the jungle.
- Cousin Papaya – George and Ape's cousin. He's a giant King Kong-like gorilla. He promised to protect anyone who bothered George, Ape, or the other gorillas.
- Edward Madmun – The person who created Madmun Island. He has a helper (who later becomes his enemy) who helped him climb Mount Everest and swim across the English Channel. George, Ape, and others often accidentally call him "Madman," but someone always corrects them, saying, "It's MadMUN!"
- Lion – A lion that George defeated when he was a child.
- Tiger – A hungry animal that likes to eat small creatures. He sometimes appears briefly in episodes.
