Tom Slick is a fun cartoon character from a series of short animated shows. These shorts were part of the George of the Jungle TV series. It first aired on ABC in 1967. The show was made by Jay Ward Productions. They also created other famous cartoons like Rocky & Bullwinkle. There were 17 episodes, each about six minutes long.

Meet Tom Slick and His Amazing Car
Tom Slick is a cheerful, freckled, all-American racecar driver. He is voiced by Bill Scott. Tom races in many different competitions. His super cool car is called the Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper.
Tom is not alone on his adventures. His girlfriend, Marigold, is voiced by June Foray. His older mechanic, Gertie Growler, is also voiced by Bill Scott. Marigold and Gertie do not always get along!
The main bad guy is the evil Baron Otto Matic. He is voiced by Paul Frees. The Baron has a silly helper named Clutcher, voiced by Daws Butler. The Baron often hits Clutcher on the head with a monkey wrench.
The Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper
A funny thing about the Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper is that it can change into almost any type of racing vehicle. It often looks completely different from its original form. In different episodes, the Grease-Slapper turns into:
- a train
- a stock car racer
- a drag racer
- a racing balloon
- a swamp buggy
- a submarine
- even a tiny skateboard
The Theme Song Fun
The show's theme song starts with Tom's car, the Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper. It suddenly jumps off the road and into a farmyard. Tom gets knocked out for a moment. A chicken even sits on his head! His car crashes into a brick wall.
But don't worry! Tom quickly gets out of this messy situation. His car falls apart in the air but then magically puts itself back together. The car then jumps onto a stone monument with Tom Slick's name on it. Finally, it gets back on the road as Tom waves and smiles.
